Sumerian texts genuinely preserve stories about powerful divine beings, sacred cities, celestial forces and boundaries between humans and the gods.

Eridu genuinely occupies an important place in Mesopotamian tradition.

And ancient cultures genuinely looked to the heavens for signs, cycles and meaning.

So perhaps the most interesting question is not whether the Anunnaki are secretly waiting to return.

It is why so many ancient traditions imagined humanity separated from a higher realm by a boundary that could not easily be crossed.
