Canada Expands “Terrorist Financing Rules” To Shut Down Freedom Convoy Funding
For the first time in Canadian history, the government has evoked the emergency measures act. All for a peaceful protest!

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has invoked the Emergency Measures Act for the first time in Canadian history, and for what? A peaceful protest against vaccine mandates. We’ve been on the ground in Ottawa covering the protests (see our coverage on Facebook, Youtube, Instagram and Telegram), and there is absolutely no emergency taking place.
Under this announcement comes a move to halt all financing to the Freedom Convoy. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland announced the following today.
She went on to state that,
As of today, the bank or other financial service provider will be able to immediately freeze or suspend an account without a court order.
In a nutshell, banks will be able to freeze personal accounts of anyone linked with the Freedom Convoy protests without any need for a court order, broadening the country’s “Terrorist Financing” rules to cover crowdfunding platforms and cryptocurrencies.
All crowdfunding and crypto platforms must register with Canada’s financial intelligence agency, as mentioned above, FinTrac and report “large or suspicious” transactions. This will go on for at least 30 days unless the emergency is extended beyond that.
The Canadian government has been doing everything in their power to shut down these protests, yet they continue to fail. The resolve of the Freedom Convoy is quite strong, and even if funding campaigns to support these protests are stopped, which they have been, it seems the support is too large to stop it.
Legacy media and numerous Canadian politicians have painted the picture that this protest is full of racist, misogynistic and violent “fringe” extremists. Anybody who has been on the scene will tell you otherwise. It’s obvious. Furthermore, some polling suggests that the majority of Canadians are in favour of lifting all COVID restrictions, which have destroyed millions of lives.
COVID mandate are being dropped all around the country. Ontario was the latest to announce that vaccine mandates will be dropped at the beginning of March. They’re also ending in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Governments are however not crediting the Freedom Convoy, and instead are crediting the measures they used to combat the pandemic. Many of which have been useless, and again, caused a tremendous amount of harm, both mandates and lockdowns.
